West Ealing Mosque burning man hunted by Police
Since February Police in London have been searching for an arsonist believed to be behind the attempted murder or punishment of an Islamic man leaving the West London Islamic Centre & Jamia Masjid Mosque. Police are still searching for the maniac who set fire to the presumably inncocent 82-year-old man who was coming out of the West London Islamic Centre.
Motive is unclear and revenge has not been ruled out as there does appear to be planning involved (getting petrol or lighter fluid).
The elderly victim was doused in petrol or lighter fluid and set on fire in the street as he left the Mosque near the attacker.
In what is reported to be a random attack. albeit one with some considerable preparation beforehand, The Metropolitan Police were called to the scence in West Ealing, London at around 8pm on February 27th. The elderly man suffered severe burns and was taken to hospital for further treatment.
This appears to be the latest in a series of incidents after a man was recently found burning in Stoke Newington, which the Police have so far claimed to be an unexplained death.
Residents in West London and Stoke Newington are advised to be on the lookout for the suspect in this case:
The suspect doused the victim before setting him alight with a lighter. A most cruel and unusual thing to do to someone.
The OAP later received hospital treatment for severe burns to his face and arms, and is still recovering with the help of his family and local community.
Detective Sergeant Steven Constable said: “I know this will be an incredibly shocking incident for the community and we are carrying out a full investigation into what happened.
“Understandably, there is a great deal of local concern in the wake of this incident and local officers have been carrying out reassurance patrols daily at the mosque.
“We are continuing to work alongside the West London Islamic Centre who have been very supportive of our investigation and have been assisting us with our enquiries.”
“If you recognise this man I would urge you to get in touch, either directly with police or to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers.
“I would also urge anyone who witnessed this incident and has not yet spoken to police to please get in touch.”
Should more incidents be linked to this attack, it could be that a serial arsonist people burner is currently on the loose in London.
UPDTE: 23/03/2023 – A man arrested in Birmingham for setting a man on fire’ has been linked to a previous incident where a man was set on fire in Ealing. Both were leaving mosques when the attacks occurred.
