A man Elliott Turner has appeared in court following the sad murder of an aspiring model from New Zealand, Emily Longley. The murder brought great sadness to the small island nation and the accused murderer has now been committed to trial at Winchester Crown Court, with a first appearance on the 28th July for her killing.
The 20 year old man, has now appeared in a British court and is accused of murdering the aspiring teenage model from New Zealand, in what is a very tragic case of love and murder.
The accused Elliott Turner has now faced magistrates in Bournemouth charged with killing 17 year old Emily Longley on 07/05/2011, May 7th 2011.
The defendant Turner has also been charged with perverting the course of justice between May 6 and July 21, and conspiring with his parents to do so.
Emily Longley had been living with her relatives in Bournemouth when she was sadly found dead. This sparked an investigation which has led to Turner being accused of murder.
Emily was a college student who in the past had worked for fashion retailer Topshop. She had been living in the UK for around eight months since she left family in Auckland to come to England.
Turners parents Leigh Turner who is 53 and his wife Anita aged 50 have appeared before Bournemouth Magistrates Court to answer a charge of intending to pervert the course of justice between May 6 and July 21.
Bail was agreed and the couple were released and told to appear before Bournemouth Crown Court on October 3, where they face a possible prison sentence, though this is of course depends on if they are found innocent of guilty.
Emily Longley’s family recently released a statement on Wednesday 20/07/2011 which said that they were confident that police were doing all they could to establish what happened to Emily and they were greatful for the support. They also wanted to thank everyone for their messages of sympathy and the many tributes that have been made to Emily, since her death. They are now awaiting the outcome of the upcoming court cases and ask that they are given space to come to terms with their loss.
The circumstances around the murder are hard to confirm. The 17 year old victim was found dead in bed and it was suggested that she had overdosed on drugs or alcohol.
Her body had been discovered at the detached home of her boyfriend Elliot Turner, 19.
It was also reported that Emily Longley had also complained of feeling scared and frightened shortly before losing her life.
Emily had announced that she had a stalker on her Facebook just three days before she was found dead another 17 year old was arrested with Turner but later released. More information should be released in due course and this does appear to be an isolated incident in Bournemouth, which although it has its share of drugs and crime, it is a great deal safer than many areas.
